Days after Ranveer Singh's apology, lawyer files complaint against him for sexist ad

Ranveer Singh received a lot of flak for his sexist Jack and Jones ad and now there's a complaint against him for the same ad.

Days after Ranveer Singh received flak for featuring in a sexist ad of Jack and Jones, a complaint has been filed against him by a lawyer. The actor is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film — YRF’s Befikre with Vaani Kapoor. The lawyer has requested National Commission For Women to look into the issue and send notices to both the actor and the ad agency.

Talking about his decision of filing a complaint, the lawyer said that it’s a highly offensive ad. He explained:

I have seen an advertisement hoarding of Jack & Jones company on social media and some online news reports in which famous Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh could be seen posing slinging a woman on his shoulder, suggesting that women are nothing more than objects. Then there’s a punch line by the side that says ‘Do Not Hold Back, Take Your Work Home’.

For uninitiated, the social media went berserk after actor Siddharth slammed the ad on Twitter. Even Ranveer’s fans expressed disappointment over his decision of featuring in such an ad. However, Ranveer took the criticism positively and released an apology. He said:

It was important to give the brand creative freedom while designing their campaign, but I guess we got it wrong on one of those billboards and I’m sorry this happened but it’s a thing of the past. We rectified it immediately by having that hoarding taken down ASAP from everywhere over 30 cities overnight. I treat all women with the utmost respect both professionally and personally and would never do anything to disrespect them.

What a time to be alive, sir lawyer!
