Farhan Akhtar starrer Lucknow Central is set against the backdrop of a jail. And the makers are keen to show it to Sanjay Dutt. While researching on the film, the makers came across various prisoners, who had hidden talents in them. Some of them were good singers, craftsmen, dancers and used to showcase their talents to fellow prisoners. On the occasion of Independence Day, the team of Lucknow Central had performed live at Yerwada jail in Pune amid all prisoners.
Since the makers got too close to understand the psyche of the prisoners, they want to show it to Sanjay Dutt. The actor who served his sentence under Arms Act and walked a free man past the bars of Yerwada prison showed a different side of his in jail. He had performed several times, wrote screenplays and even performed live in the jail. Now that the film is gearing up for its release, the makers are eager to show the film to Sanjay Dutt.
In the film, Farhan essays the role of Kishen Mohan Girhotra, is an aspiring singer, who idolizes Manoj Tiwari in the small town of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. His world turns upside down when he is falsely accused of a murder and is sent to Lucknow Central jail.
Lucknow Central exhibits the tale of a simple ambitious man caught in a tragedy that changes his life forever. The film thrives on ambition, passion, friendship, and determination. The film also features Diana Penty, Deepak Dobriyal, Ronit Roy, Gippy Grewal, Rajesh Sharma, Inaamulhaq, Uday Tikekar, Sukh Kunwar in pivotal roles.
Produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Emmay Entertainment and Motion Pictures, the film is directed by Ranjit Tiwari. Lucknow Central is slated to release on September 15.
