Judwaa 2 Box Office: Varun Dhawan’s film opens well, might challenge Shah Rukh Khan’s JHMS collections

Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2 off to good start at the Box Office!

Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 has started on a good note at the Box-Office across the country with the average occupancy in the morning show falling in the range of 35% to 40%. The David Dhawan directorial is faring the best at tier two cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, Indore, Surat, Ahmedabad followed by the mass circuits like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Central India (CI) and Haryana.

The film has taken a bigger start than Dhawan’s last release, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which raked in approximately Rs 12.25 crore on its opening day. Given the start, Judwaa 2 would surpass the opening day numbers of ABCD 2 (14.40 crore) and emerge as the biggest opener till date for Varun Dhawan. The theatrical trailer had worked well with the audience and the same has translated into the Box Office numbers. The occupancy level in the morning shows of Judwaa 2 is better than the likes of Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which starred Akshay Kumar in lead.

While a Rs 15 crore plus start is assured, Judwaa 2 might even challenge the opening day collections of Jab Harry Met Sejal (Rs 16.50 crore), if the film holds on well in the afternoon shows, especially at the single screens all across.

The collection is expected to drop across Gujarat and a select few centers in Mumbai due to Navratri celebrations. The opening day number of the film seems to be in the range of Rs 15 to 16 crore, which is a good result and the collections would be boosted over the weekend to three consecutive holidays in the form of Dusserah, Sunday and Gandhi Jayanti.

The content of the film has a universal appeal, however, the reception from the audience would decide if the film will last long or not. There has been a dearth of good comedies in Bollywood, and if Judwaa 2 strikes the chord with the audience, it might as well emerge as the highest grossing film of the year by surpassing Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (Rs 132 crore).
