From commander-in-chief to tripper-in-chief: How Barack Obama is spending his first week away from US presidency

Barack Obama has been on the move since he handed over the presidential reigns on Jan 20 to Donald Trump. The former American president along with wife Michelle Obama on Monday touched down in the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea.

The former first couple reportedly flew on the plane of Virgin Group owner and British businessman Richard Branson. According to a Daily Mail report, the Obamas will be staying at Branson’s private retreat Necker Island during their stay.

The Obamas will spend some time in the Caribbean resort before heading off to an undisclosed location.

Earlier, the couple reportedly spent the weekend at a former American diplomat’s home in Southern California. The riverside country of Rancho Mirage is believed to be Obama’s favorite holiday destination, a place he has reportedly visited six times during his eight-year old presidency. According to several news reports, the Obamas are even considering buying a mansion in the region like several American presidents have done in the past.
