But do you know that Kirsty Bertarelli, a former beauty queen, is the richest woman in the country and her fortune is more than that of JK Rowling and the Queen combined.

With £11.6bn she is the richest woman in Britain. Those who don’t know her, 46-year-old Kirsty was crowned Miss UK in 1988 and later represented her country in Miss World competition the same year. In the event, she finished as 2nd runner up. In the year 2000, Kirsty also co-wrote the song, Black Coffee which was recorded by All Saints and went on to become a worldwide hit.

The former beauty queen, who is from Staffordshire owns a yacht worth £100 million and also spends many months on it.  The 314 ft-long Vava II  needs more than £250,000 just to fill the fuel tanks and it was gifted to her by her businessman husband Ernesto Bertarelli who previously used to own a biotech company called Serono.

She now lives in Switzerland with her billionaire husband and their three children. Not only she is one of the richest women in the world but the couple is also among the wealthiest in the world. Her husband’s family fortune worth is over £9.75 billion.

Despite being the richest woman in the UK, she prefers to remain down-t0-earth and thanks her humble beginnings for that. She said, ‘We’re a close-knit family and we all eat together in the kitchen. I cook shepherd’s pie and lamb shanks and roast and do the school run. We don’t have a nanny.’
