Man carries 1,000 diamonds in his shoes, arrested in China's Shenzen City

A few more smugglers have been arrested as well who were trying to carry the diamonds in their socks and the food packages

An attempt of smuggling has been busted by the Shenzhen City police on March 22. A young man has been caught trying to smuggle more than 1,000 diamonds into Shenzhen City from neighbouring Hong Kong by hiding them in his shoes. As reported the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the customs officials in Shenzhen in Guangdong province have found 212.9 carats of diamonds in the alleged smuggler’s insoles when he was passing through the Luohu port, which links Hong Kong with inland cities.

As stated by a customs officer surnamed Wang, the smuggler was caught due to his walking style which was observed by the officials present at the airport. He said,”The man was suspicious as he sometimes tiptoed. When he found that we were looking at him, he quickly shifted to normal walking posture.”

The customs officers stopped the smuggler and asked the him to take off his shoes. When the shoes were removed by the man, they found several bags of sparkling diamonds worth 212.9 carats.

According to customs at Luohu port, few more smugglers have been arrested as well who were trying to carry the diamonds in their socks and the food packages they were carrying aling with them. A few days earlier, another  man was cught who was trying to sneak 1,554 diamonds weighing 164 carats. He kept all the diamonds in a packaged snack food.
