Dear Donald Trump, beware of Bernie Sanders. He is all geared up to fight you

Compared to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton's speeches, Bernie Sanders was far more scathing and honest in his facebook post on Donald Trump's victory

Donald Trump might have made it to the White House in a shock victory winning a whopping ….. electoral college votes. However, the popular Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders who dropped out of the race, later supporting fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton has given out a clarion call to fight the obnoxious ideology that Donald Trump stands for, the raw sexist and racist tone of his entire campaign that brought him to the White House. In a Facebook post, Bernie wrote:

“To the degree that he pursues racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies, we will vigorously oppose him.”

However, his post was equally self reflective of what led to the victory of a someone like Donald Trump who has time and again spoken against religious minorities, immigrants and people of colour, pandering to the insecurities of white supremacists while sparking off insecurities among the rest of the population.

Here’s what Bernie writes:

“Trump tapped into the anger of a declining middle class that is sick and tired of establishment economics, establishment politics and the establishment media. People are tired of working longer hours for lower wages, of seeing decent paying jobs go to China and other low-wage countries, of billionaires not paying any federal income taxes and of not being able to afford a college education for their kids—all while the very rich become much richer.”

However, like a true opposition he also said that he was open to cooperating with Trump when it came to economic policy. He says:

“To the degree that Mr. Trump is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families in this country, I and other progressives are prepared to work with him.”

Many say, if Sanders was running against Trump, the outcome could have been very different from what we saw on 9 November. But his fiery, Facebook post proves that not only the 75-year old understands what cost the Democrats the elections, he is all geared up to take Trump on, whenever needed.
