It has been less than a week since republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was elected as the 45th President of the United States and incidents of hate crimes have already flooded the social media. While the world cannot get over the shock that has followed the outcome of the 2016 presidential elections, people in America are gearing up for a time that could possibly tear the country apart.
In less than 72 hours after the news broke out, people from Oregon, California and Portland have filed petitions to secede from the union and form their own country.
With the incidents that are being reported, America may well be staring at a civil war. While the country is struggling to ‘keep it together’, the people are already suffering from ‘President Trump Stress Disorder’ or PTSD. So here are few incidents of hate crimes that are unfolding in the country:
Canadian gay man attacked in California
A Canadian gay man said that he was beaten up by some men in California on the election night. Calgary filmmaker Chris Ball was at a bar in Santa Monica on Tuesday night watching the Trump win
the Presidential elections when supporters of the republican candidate smashed a bottle on his head.
“They were saying things like, ‘We got a new president you f–king faggots.’,” he told the Metro Calgary.
Attack on Muslim students
Muslim students across the country reported incidents of hate crime. A Muslim student at San Diego University, California told the police that she was in the college parking lot when two men made comments about Trump and the Muslim community grabbed her purse and backpack before fleeing the area. According to the police, an investigation is ongoing into the hate-crime, robbery and vehicle theft. A similar incident was also reported in the University of Louisiana.
