Shocking! Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 explodes in Bengaluru-- Watch video

A Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 reportedly exploded in a shop in Bengaluru when a shopkeeper was trying to insert a SIM card in the customer's smartphone. Here's what happened

Just as the world was getting over the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, the news of a Xiaomi smartphone exploding has sent the social media into a frenzy. A Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 reportedly exploded in a shop in Bengaluru when a shopkeeper was trying to insert a SIM card in the customer’s smartphone. The video circulating on the Internet was captured by a CCTV camera in the shop and it shows the device exploding and bursting into flames.

Usually, the cases of explosions are associated with overheating of the handset. However, the phone was not connected to a charger or any device at the time when the incident occurred. The video shows the Redmi Note 4 smartphone burning for a few moments before the people in store rush to extinguish the flame. Neither the shop owner nor the customer was injured in the incident.

The incident reportedly took place on July 17, 2017, when the owner of the phone came to shop from which he had bought the phone nearly two months ago after he faced some issues. The owner has filed a complaint against the manufacturer in a police station in Bengaluru. According to reports, the company is investigating the matter and that it is awaiting further response from the customer.
