It’s party time at the Facebook headquarters! The social media giant has announced that it now has over 2 billion people, a feat it achieved in less than 5 years after it hit the 1 billion mark. “As of this morning, the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people! It’s an honour to be on this journey with you,” Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a post on Facebook.

“Each day, more than 175 million people share a Love reaction, and on average, over 800 million people like something on Facebook. More than 1 billion people use Groups every month,” product director Mike Nowak and product manager Guillermo Spiller shared in a blog post.

The social media giant is celebrating its latest feat by giving out treats (not literally though!). To begin with, Facebook is launching a personalised video with all its community members sharing the moments that matter to them. You can check out your video by visiting facebook.com/goodaddsup. Apart from this, if someone reacts to your post with Love, wishes you happy birthday or creates a group, they will see a Thank You message in their News Feeds (isn’t that just wonderful!).

But that’s not it, adding in the festive mode, Facebook is sharing fun facts on how people are contributing to the community. And if you happen to be residing in the United States, the social media giant will also be sharing inspiring tales with you.

Interestingly, not just Facebook, but it’s sister apps are doing well too. While Instagram has over 700 million active users, Facebook Messenger and Facebook-owned WhatsApp boasts of about 1.2 billion monthly active users. Twitter, on the other hand, has just 328 million active users, while Snapchats has approximately 255 million active users.
