Watch: Heineken's latest ad does what Pepsi's Kendall Jenner didn't. It makes sense

Once again, a beverage brand has made a politically charged advertisement. Thankfully, this time it wasn't Pepsi.

Pepsi should take lessons on being sensitive from Heineken. The beer brand’s latest advertisement, titled ‘Worlds Apart’ talks about people with differing political outlooks and yet, it didn’t invite a deluge of criticism. Why? Because it was realistic and had a humane element unlike the controversial Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad which attempted to ride its way to glory on the back of an activist movement (and also making no sense while doing it).

In the recent advertisement, Heineken brought together complete strangers whose sociopolitical views had been vetted. Later, they brought people with differing opinions together and got them to perform certain activities together in pairs.

Heineken Beer AdvertisementAfter the participants were done piecing together what turned out to be a bar, their differing opinions were unveiled. They were then given a choice to either agree to disagree or to talk it out over a cold bottle of Heineken. The choice was pretty damn easy. Nobody can refuse beer.

“I’ve been brought up in a way where everything is black and white, but life isn’t black and white,” one of the participants admitted to his partner, who was revealed to be a transgender to him. The theme of the ad was to find out if there is “more that unites us than divides us.” Here is the full advertisement:

The ad is being heavily praised by most with some people listing the obvious contrast with the Pepsi advertisement from earlier this month. “See, Pepsi, this is how you fucking do it,” wrote one person on Youtube.
