Video: Watch Muslim family in US gets harassed at beach by a Trump supporter

The man, who was identified as Alexander Dowing of Connecticut, was seen getting detained by the South Padre Island Police at the end of the video

“You’re a f***ing Muslim, motherf***er. You will never ever, ever, stop me, my Christianity from rising above your Sharia law. Your Sharia law doesn’t mean shit to me.”

This is how a Trump supporter disturbed a Muslim family reunion at a beach in Texas while the islamophobic man continued ranting about the Islamic State, Shariah Law, and Donald Trump.

The hateful rant was recorded and uploaded on YouTube by Noria Alward, a member of the family who faced the harassment. The man, who seemed intoxicated, was seen hurling abuses and insults at the family.

“Guess what? IS don’t mean shit to me,” he screamed. “Donald Trump will stop you. Donald Trump will stop you! Donald Trump got you motherf***ers. Watch… watch. My country is the greatest country in the world,” he said while thumping his chest proudly. “Come f*** with Donald Trump. That’s my mother f***ing president!”

The man, who was later identified as Alexander Dowing of Waterford, Connecticut, was seen getting detained by the South Padre Island Police at the end of the video. As per a report in the BuzzFeed, the man was arrested after the family filed a report. Upon inquiry, the police told the news site that Downing was arrested after the reporting officer determined that he was intoxicated in a public place and was a danger to himself and others.

“It is my country too,” a member of the family, Ahmed, said in an email to the BuzzFeed. Deciding to keep his last name anonymous so as to not face harassment again, Ahmed added that, “America is my country whether he likes it or not.”

“I want people to understand that this man needs to be charged with indecent behaviour in front of kids and a minor,” Ahmed wrote in his mail. However, he also added that the individual “doesn’t represent the masses.”

In fact, Ahmed thanked all the beach-goers who stood with his family during the situation with a special mention to a man in the video to tried to ease the situation. “Hats off to him,” he wrote.

Ahmed also wrote that he wanted the world to know that the hotel did not do anything to protect them.

“While the hotel informed us that the man would be evicted from the hotel after his arrest, he was again seen in the hotel lobby the very next day. We will definitely go back to the beautiful island but will never go back to the Pearl Hotel,” Ahmed wrote.

However, the manager at South Padre Pearl Hotel, Abdel Zouari, told BuzzFeed News that they were unaware of the incident until the video went viral.

“We didn’t really know the full story except that the police arrested the guy and the next day he checked out. But we care about our guests and it is unfortunate that this happened outside the hotel,” said Abdel.
