This cover of Dhinchak Pooja's 'Selfie Maine Leli Aaj' is pretty amazing. No, seriously

Dhinchak Pooja's Selfie song cover by this singer is pure gold

Dhinchak Pooja is everywhere these days. While she may be the subject of many trolls and hate comments, there are people who call her ‘genius’ for following the footstep’s of American singer Rebecca Black who introduced cringe-pop music with her massively hit song Friday and Pakistani singer Taher Shah’s music videos, be it Eye to Eye or Angel. Dhichak Pooja is the recent internet phenomenon of cringe-pop music, basking in the glory of her songs ‘Daaru’, ‘Swag waali Topi’, and recent hit song ‘Selfie Maine Leli Aaj’ which went viral with approximately 10M views on YouTube. And the buzz hasn’t died yet.

From parody, reference songs, reactions, to decoding the song, Dhinchak Pooja’s ‘Selfie Maine Leli Aaj’ is the talk of the town. There are many singers who have made their own covers of the song with their own special spin on it. That is exactly what Hiten did. His cover of the viral song is (surprisingly in sync with the music) and TBH quite soothing.

While posting the video on Facebook, the artist cleared that he doesn’t mean to belittle Dhinchak Pooja and respects her a lot. “She’s good in her own genre and I reproduced in my own genre. That’s why I respect her Dhinchak Pooja #noHate”, he wrote. His cover has received a good response and has so far amassed 259k views. Viewers, though appreciative of Hiten’s efforts cannot seem to stop themselves from passing petty remarks about the original singer of the song:

“Hiten please promise us that you’ll remake each and every song of her for the sake of humanity. This world needs more people like you. Please save us,” says one.

“Wow…is he a wizard or what? Transformed a complete ear bleed to some beats yo!”

Hiten, you need to do a cover of “daru daru daru” too, that song is stuck in my head. Your version would totally be amazing”.

Verdict? Hit, for sure.
