Meet Charlotte, the spider that is freaking the internet

She's absolutely gorgeous!

Halloween is over, yet spooky things keep cropping up on the Internet. And this time what’s freaking everyone out seems like a page from the Harry Potter series.

Charlotte, a huntsman spider, was rescued by an Australian animal shelter in Queensland last year and its images are going viral on the social media.

“She is very real and very large and not photo shopped,” Barnyard Betty’s Rescue shared in a Facebook post.

Huntsman spiders are one of the most common types of spiders found in Australia and are also called giant crab spiders because of their size and appearance. Huntsman don’t build webs and as their name suggests, they literally hunt their prey, which includes pests like cockroaches and crickets.

However, unlike other spiders, they are not regarded as dangerous to humans.

“She was a beautiful, calm spider, not aggressive in any way and like most spiders she just wanted to go about her business eating bugs and living in peace. She didn’t or doesn’t need to be killed! Poor spiders are so misunderstood,” Barnyard Betty’s wrote.
