Virat Kohli would have stepped down if Anil Kumble had not resigned: Reports

The latest reports have caused quite a stir as the main reason behind India's former head coach Anil Kumble's resignation has been made quite clear

The controversy seems to get bigger and bigger with each passing the day. In a new revelation, according to a report from The Telegraph, India’s skipper Virat Kohli would have resigned had Anil Kumble not withdrawn from his post which he held for a year. This fresh revelation brings more clarity to the series of events that have taken place since June 20 after Kumble’s post on Twitter and Facebook revealing the truth behind his partnership with Kohli and terming it as ‘untenable’.

According to a top source of The Telegraph, “Kohli had been adamant that Kumble couldn’t continue as the head coach and that the Board needed to look for a replacement…,”

“That, it seems, was communicated to the Committee of Administrators’ chief Vinod Rai, besides top officials of the Board and, of course, the CAC….

“Had the Board gone ahead and implemented Sachin, Sourav and Laxman’s recommendation, then Kohli would almost surely have resigned,”

If the reports are to be believed it is quite clear that Kohli was hellbent on removing Kumble from India’s head coach post. Recently, Kohli deleted his congratulatory message to Kumble on Twitter a year ago welcoming Kumble as the coach of the team.

From the looks of it Kohli threw his tantrums at BCCI which resulted in Kumble’s resignation which stopped the skipper from stepping down from captaincy. Kumble’s letter in which he said Kohli has ‘reservations’ about his ‘style’ of coaching can be interpreted clearly now.

Well, Kohli would have to answer these questions in the pre-match press conference ahead of India’s first ODI against West Indies.
