Gautam Gambhir's no-nonsense reply to Pakistan: 'No films, no cricket'

First stop cross-border terrorism

Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has made a strong statement in the ongoing India-Pakistan situation, saying India should snap all ties with Pakistan until cross-border terrorism doesn’t stop. He said it was easy talking about relations with Pakistan sitting in an ac room, but one must have regard for those who sacrificed their family members to save the country from these incursions.

Gautam Gambhir made this statement while talking to India Today. He said that no cricket should be played between India and Pakistan until cross-border terrorism is not stopped. He said the same about Pakistan artistes. His comments assume importance due to the ongoing controversy regarding Pakistan artistes in India is raging on.

“India should not have any ties with Pakistan be it Bollywood or cricket. I am shocked that Bollywood is saying that cricket and movies should be kept ahead on national sentiments,” Gambhir told India Today.

“I want to ask those supporting Pakistani artists, if they would have done the same if any of their family members would have died.”

“National interest is above anything else. Just because you sit in an air-conditioned room, you can say you shouldn’t relate cricket and movies to politics,” he said. “Ask anyone who has lost a family member to terror attacks and you will get your answer. ”

Gautam Gambhir has been an ardent supporter of the Indian army. When the Uri attack occurred, killing 17 army jawans, Gambhir had vented out his frustration at not being able to do anything about the Pakistan-sponsored cross-border  terrorism.

COEAI had recently announced that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that stars Pakistan actor Fawad Khan will not be released in four states including Gujarat and Maharashtra. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap came in support of the movie, saying why PM Modi mustn’t apologise for going to Pakistan. He clarified his comment later. He said when Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was being shot with a Pak actor, PM Modi was in Pakistan. Then, why should only one party pays?
