IPL Auction 2017: Mohammad Nabi's priceless reaction on becoming first Afghanistan cricketer to join IPL

Besides Mohammad Nabi, another Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan too was sold in this year's IPL auction. Rashid was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad at a whopping price of Rs 4 crore.

An all-rounder cricketer from Afghanistan, Mohammad Nabi on February 21 erupted in joy after he became the first cricketer from the country to be inducted in the Indian Premier League season 10. During the IPL Auctions which is currently underway in Bengaluru, the right-handed batsman and off break bowler was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad at his base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Besides Nabi, another Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan too got sold in this year’s IPL auction. Rashid was bought by SRH at a whopping price of Rs 4 crore. Soon after his bid, Mohammad Nabi took to his Twitter handle to share his reaction and wrote: “Flooded with Happiness today not only for myself but rather for our junior rocking player Rashid Arman being selected for Sunrisers.”

During the players’ auction for the tenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), five players from Afghanistan have been included. These five players include Captain Mohamad Asghar Stanikzai, Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Shahzad Mohammadi, Rashid Khan Arman and Dawlat Zadran.

India’s most favourite cricket tournament, IPL 2017 is all set to start on April 5 and this year’s edition will start off right from where it ended as David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will go up against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The defending champions SRH will be hosting the IPL 2017 opener. The final of this edition’s IPL as well is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on May 21.
