Under scorching heat of 37 degrees, Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to field first on a sticky Eden Gardens wicket. For DD, there was a change at the top as Karun Nair walked out to open with Sanju Samson. The both of them played some glorious shots up front. For the first time in the series, Nair looked to be in good touch. Woakes were brought in early into the attack but he too was taken apart with some good cricketing shots. In the middle overs, Iyer and Samson was happy taking the singles and keep the scoreboard ticking against the spinners. At the end of 12 overs they were 94 for 1.
