Explained: RCB still has some chances to reach play-offs in IPL 2017

With a total of 4 points, RCB is presently holding the 7th position in the points tally

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been struggling a lot with their performance in the ongoing season Indian Premier League (IPL) 10. The finalists of the 2016 season have played 8 games and have managed to win only games while one match was called off due to rain and they got one point. With a total of 4 points, RCB is presently holding the 7th position in the points tally. And now, the big challenge which is annoying Virat Kohli & Co. is how to reach the playoffs.

If RCB needs to enter the playoffs then they have to win all the remaining 5 games in the tournament which will earn them a total of 15 points in 14 games. As the top three position are occupied by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), RCB has to put all its efforts to book the fourth slot and be one of the teams entering the playoffs.

Following are the possible speculations which would land RCB in the playoffs

  • RCB have to win all the 5 remaining games and take total 15 points
  • RPS should be halted to win their 5 games out of 6
  • MI should lose 3 of their 6 remaining games and end up taking 18 points
  • KKR must lose 2 from the remaining 5 matches and end up with 20 points
  • The GL and DD win only 3 from of their remaining matches each
  • KXIP should 2 next matches

In 2016, Bangalore was in a similar situation and they had to win the final four matches in the league. All credit went to Virat Kohli’s superb knock that RCB played as many as 9 games and are struggling currently with only 5 points.
