IPL 2017 RPS v RCB: Virat Kohli & Co. fail to score even 100 runs, Pune win by 61 runs

After hitting 1 six and 4 fours, Kohli scored another IPL 10 half century while the rest of the batting line-up could collectively score 41 runs

For the third time in a row, once again Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batting line-up terribly failed to performed in an Indian Premier League (IPL) game against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in the game number 34. Virat Kohli and company couldn’t save today’s game for their team and were defeated by Pune by 61 runs.

With this win, RPS retained their fourth position in the points table with 10 points while RCB has no hopes left to reach the playoffs.

After winning the toss, RCB skipper Virat Kohli asked Steven Smith and his team to bat first. The RPS batting line-up struggled a bit but with the knocks of Steven Smith and MS Dhoni-Manoj Tiwary provided the support at the end and they successfully put 157 on the scoreboard after losing 3 wickets.

To chase an easy target of 158 runs, captain Kohli and Travis Head, who replaced Chris Gayle in this game, came into bat. It was speculated that unlike previous face-offs, RCB will create a difference in this game by their performance but the batting started trembling right from the second over. Bangalore faced the first blow in the form of Travis Head as he was dismissed by Jaidev Unadkat for 2 runs.

AB de Villiers was the next man who came in at number while the RCB fans had a faith that amid Gayle’s absence, these two will do the miracle today away from the home. But soon, the curse of the bad performance hit back and Bangalore wickets started falling like a house of cards.

After ABD’s dismissal for 3 runs off 8 balls, a huge pressure surmounted the RCB squad. Though Kohli was scoring runs continuously but he faced a lack of partners throughout the game. One after another, his batting partners kept on changing and the captain alone was fighting hard.

After hitting 1 six and 4 fours, Kohli scored another IPL 10 half century while the rest of the batting line-up could collectively score 41 runs. After scoring 55 runs off 48 balls, Kohli was dismissed by Dan Christain as he was tried another biggie but was caught by Mayank Agarwal.

Bangalore couldn’t even score 100 runs in 20 overs and lost another match by 61 runs.
