Gautam Gambhir shames Virat Kohli, RCB records lowest total in IPL

With this defeat, Royal Challengers Bangalore reaches the last position in the points table but also RCB sets the lowest IPL score ever

The match number 27 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 10 between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore started with huge success coming with every ball for Virat Kohli and Co. after which they halted Kolkata at 131 and an easy target of 132 was set for Bangalore to chase. But the way, Kolkata men turned the game upside down was truly remarkable. RCB failed to defend the target while the entire batting line-up collapsed withing 10 overs after scoring only 49 runs. Despite poor batting performance, KKR won the game by 82runs with 62 balls remaining in the game.

With this defeat, Royal Challengers Bangalore reaches the last position in the points table but also RCB sets the lowest IPL score ever.

The game looked very easy to finish for the RCB in the second innings as they had mere 132 runs to chase which could have been very easy with the batsmen like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers on their side. But the way game turned against Virat Kohli and team will be remembered in future.

The first blow to RCB came itself in the first over delivered by Nathan Coulter-Nile when in-form batsman Virat Kohli for a golden duck right in the third ball of the second innings. It has happened for the first time in this tournament that Kohli was back to pavilion without scoring any run.

Initially, this blow humiliated Kohli but still, AB was there to bat and the fans had hopes alive. Mandeep Singh came into bat at number 3 and was dismissed at 1 off mere 3 balls by Nathan Coulter-Nile again. The KKR fans jumped with joy with every wicket but the RCB dugout was full of low faces.

There was a time when AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle were on the crease and the total still looked very small and chasable. But the KKR ballers had a different strategy in the back of their mind to outplay RCB and have an early dinner.

One after the other, the wickets kept on falling withing fraction of seconds and disappointment start raging in the Bangalore dugout. The entire batting line-up didn’t even sustain 60 balls in the game and collapsed like house of cards after scoring just 49 runs. The RCB scoreboard looked pathetic after the game finished and now Bangalore is starving for a victory as they are lying at the last position in the points tally with just 4 points in their account.

After losing the game, skipper Kohli looked highly disappointed and stated that it was their worst batting performance ever in the tournament.

Let’s have a look at the lowest totals scored in all the 10 seasons of the Indian Premier League:
