Indian Premier League 2017, SRH v KXIP: GlennMaxwell was the pick of the bowlers picking up 2 wickets and giving away 25 in his 4 overs

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to field at Mohali against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This is the first match at Mohali. David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan opened the batting for SRH and Ishant Sharma started proceedings for KXIP. Warner and Dhawan struggled to get going at the outset, thanks to some disciplined bowling. But that is when things changed when Axar Patel was introduced, Warner got stuck into him, picking him for 17 runs of that one over. That set David Warner on his way and his form rubbed off on Shikhar Dhawan who joined in the party. Ishant Sharma bowled his first 3 overs quickly and went for 21 runs.

Finally, Glenn Maxwell came into the attack and got his country-mate David Warner for 51, who was looking ominous. Kane Williamson walked in after Warner’s dismissal and started picking up singles straight away. Once Williamson was in, he stepped it up targeting Axar Patel. The duo were never bothered they picked up boundaries at will. After 14 overs they were handsomely placed at 143 for one. Then he started toying with the bowling. Dhawan then departed for a well-made 77 when he was looking all set for a hundred. That brought Yuvraj Singh to the middle, who is returning to the team after flu. Cariappa was costly, he gave away 42 in his 4 overs. Yuvraj departed early when he tried to up the ante. He departed for 15. Maxwell was the pick of the bowlers picking up 2 wickets and giving away 25 in his 4 overs.
