Wohoo… What a Match! After going down in the first Test match at Pune, team India bounced back strongly and thrashed the Australians on day 4 in the second match being played at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on March 7. Superb bowling performances by Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav brought India into the strong position after they were bowled out for just 276 runs in the second innings, setting 188 run target for the visitors to win.

After the batting collapse in the both the innings, the Indians bowled superbly on a pitch which has developed quite a few cracks, making it difficult for batting. India’s star spinner R Ashwin lead from the front and did the most damage. He returned with the figures of 6/41. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav displayed excellent speed and swing to return 2/30. Ishant Sharma and left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja bagged a wicket each.

Earlier in the day, Indian resumed batting with their overnight score of 213/4. But, soon after Josh Hazlewood got the ball, he dismantled the Indian batting line-up. He clinched a six-wicket haul as India were dismissed for 274 runs. Hazlewood had figures of 6/74 while fellow pacer Mitchell Starc and spinner Steve O’Keefe took two wickets each. For India, Cheteshwar Pujara top scored with 92.

In reply, Australia got off the slow start and were seen struggling against the Indian bowling.

Australians lost their final six wickets for 11 runs with the series now level at 1-1.

India dismissed the visitors for 112. Indian opener Lokesh Rahul was declared the man of the match.
