Virender Sehwag mostly known for his ‘see the ball, hit the ball’ approach on the field got recently compared with Indian Women Cricket team’s fiery opener. Mandhana who has been in the news soon after Women’s World Cup started. She came into limelight for her 72-ball-90 against England in the first match. She carried forward her form in the next match as well scoring an unbeaten 106 from 108 balls blasting 13 fours and 2 sixes. Her performance in the Women’s World Cup have caught the eye of Twitterati as they started finding similarities between her and Sehwag.

But, Sehwag who has been known for his witty comebacks and one-liners on Twitter and is one of the most followed sportspersons in India had an apt counter-description for the comparison. One of the Twitter users tweeted to Sehwag terming Mandhana as his female version. Sehwag was quick to reply on that one as he tweeted, “She is the first version of Smriti and is really special. Every Indian who loves sports will be proud of her. Wish her and the team the best.”

Soon after Sehwag’s tweet, people started praising him for his humbleness and acknowledging the distinctive style with which Mandhana plays the game. Sehwag’s quote also caught the eyes of former Australian Women cricketer as she classified his quote as “one of the quotes of Women’s World Cup 2017”.

In a way, Sehwag hailed Mandhana’s batting style which is not that common in Women cricket. She has already bagged two ‘Man of the Match’ award in Women’s World Cup 2017. Though she could not perform in the much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash which India won quite easily, thanks to Ekta Bisht’s record-breaking five-for.
