Twitterati find similarities between Ravi Shastri-Virat Kohli duo & Dr Manmohan Singh-Sonia Gandhi

Twitter is a strange place but at times produce some of the hilarious comparisons as they compared Kohli-Shastri duo to Dr Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi

India’s former Team Director Ravi Shastri who has recently applied for the Head Coach post as Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) extended the final date of applying for the position. Shastri is applying for the Head Coach post previous year as well but Kumble was picked ahead of him. He refrained from applying soon after Kumble’s exit and reportedly asked for a guarantee when approached by BCCI in the previous week. Shastri will be competing with Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Lalchand Rajput and others.

As soon as the official news of Shastri applying for the post came out, for some reason the Twitterati started comparing him with former Indian Primer Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The former PM was often criticised for not expressing his views on major issues and choosing to remain silent. Despite being an effective and efficient economist, he was not considered the best of the PMs the country has seen.

There were reports of Shastri being the first choice of skipper Virat Kohli the previous year as well who had ‘reservations’ with Kumble’s ‘style’. Eventually, Kumble was given the Head Coach post as BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee wanted Kumble to coach Team India.

The Twitterati did not just compare Shastri, but compared his relationship with skipper Kohli to Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh.

It is no secret that Shastri and former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly who is a member of CAC don’t get along. Though it will be interesting whether Shastri gets a nod without an interview with CAC keeping in mind the Shastri-Ganguly rift.
