IPL 2017: Will Malinga-Johnson magic work for Mumbai Indians?

Indian Premier League 2017: They have tear-away pacers like Lasith Malinga, Tim Southee and Mitchell Johnson in their ranks

This is the team to beat come Indian Premier League. Historically, they have had some of the biggest names of the games in their dug out. From Sachin Tendulkar to Ricky Ponting have all been there in that precious dug out. This year they will be chasing their third title. Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians have lifted the crown twice. The team is owned by the richest man in the country, Mukesh Ambani. Hence the stakes will be as high as their fan base which is huge. They are probably the team which is most followed in India. This time they will look to erase the tag of being slow starters.

Combinations (strengths and weaknesses)

This is one team which is bowling heavy, unlike most teams. They have tear-away pacers like Lasith Malinga, Tim Southee and Mitchell Johnson in their ranks. Also Indian Jasprit Bumrah adds value to the bowling attack, apart from spinners like Harbhajan Singh and Karn Sharma.

In the batting department they will have the services of Rohit Sharma, Lendl Simmons and Ambati Rayadu. If you thought they were lean in the batting department, well they more than make up for it with the allrounders they have. Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Saurabh Tiwary and Jos Buttler, who may keep will also add value with the willow.
