India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test: Shikhar Dhawan scores 190 after being trolled by Yuvraj Singh!

Shikhar Dhawan, who made a comeback in Test cricket after 9 months, played superb knock of 190 to put Team India in commanding position on day one of first Test vs Sri Lanka

India’s dashing batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who made a comeback in Test cricket after about 9 months, played superb knock of 190 to put Team India in a commanding position on day one in the first Test match against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Cricket Stadium on July 26. Dhawan, who opened the innings with Abhinav Mukund, smashed Lankan bowlers all around the Galle International Stadium. During his 190 runs off 168 deliveries, Dhawan smashed 31 boundaries.

Dhawan finally fell when he tried to smash a Nuwan Pradeep’s delivery over mid-off but mistimed his shot and Angelo Mathews pulled off an easy catch. On the othet hand, Cheteshwar Pujara, who came at the crease following the dismissal of Abhinav Mukand (12), was also in excellent form and remained unbeaten on 75 at tea.

Earlier, Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and he decided to bat first. Pacer Nuwan Pradeep was the standout performer among the hapless Lankan bowlers with figures of 3/52. The rest of the Lankan bowling suffered some serious hammering and were made to look rather ordinary.

A day before the first Test match, India’s middle order batsman and World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh trolled Shikhar Dhawan for not wearing shoes during his photoshoot.

Yuvraj Singh took to his Twitter handle and wrote: “Jatt ji jutey ta pahlo.”

Virat Kohli-led team India will play 3 Test matches, 5 One Day Intenationals and a T20 during their visit to Island Nation.

Brief scores:

India: 313/3 (Shikhar Dhawan 190, Cheteshwar Pujara 100 batting; Nuwan Pradeep 3/52) vs Sri Lanka.
