The amount of runs India may have been hoping did not come, thanks to some tight bowling by the Australian pacers. Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins did just what captain Steven Smith asked of them after the visitors folded out for 300 on day 1 in a crucial decider at Dharamshala. India was looking to see of the new ball. Vijay lost his wicket to a great ball that pitched and held its line forcing Vijay to just get a feather to it. India will look to take a massive first innings lead so that they do not have to bat again.
India lost Vijay when the score was 21, he was any way not looking settled. Then it was over to India’s new number three Cheteshwar Pujara to take centrestage, he and Rahul then got into the groove, singles started flowing and the strike was rotated. Soon India brought up their 50. It was a session that did not see boundaries flow but now that the ball is old and has lost its shine, India could look to capitalise on it. Pujara has looked unperturbed as he knows he holds the key to India’s massive first innings lead.
