It seems all the speculations will end today, as it is highly likely that the next team India coach will be announced today. This comes after the Supreme Court SC-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) has asked the BCCI to announce the name of the Indian team head coach today. So, in all probability a decision has to be taken today. This comes after Cricket Advisory Committee’s Sourav Ganguly made a statement from the BCCI headquarters yesterday that they need more time to announce the next coach.  Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Lalchand Rajput were interviewed yesterday.

The cricket board’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman had deferred the announcement after interviewing five candidates on Monday. Speculations started making the rounds that they are deferring the date because Virat Kohli was not yet consulted.

“We want to speak to Virat Kohli, once he is back from America, all three of us, the respective people concerned, we will explain to him that the coaches want to function in a certain way and make sure everybody is on the same page once we make the announcement. Once, we make the announcement, it has to be till the World Cup,” Ganguly had said yesterday.

The portfolio of the head coach is vacant because Anil Kumble had stepped down from his position owing to conflicts with the current captain Virat Kohli.

The decision to fast-forward the process and make an announcement today may have caught the holy (CAC) trinity off-guard. With next to no time left, we feel it will be a toss up between Tom Moody and Ravi Shastri and Virender Sehwag will be the dark horse in this race. Do not get shocked if the dark horse emerges as the final name.
