Pakistan won the toss and put India the defending champions in to bat, in a placid Edgbaston wicket. This is the opener for both the teams in this ICC Champions Trophy 2017. India got off to a sedate start, thanks to Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. The rain interrupted play though the predictions of a mild shower was for later on. It was surprising to see Pakistan opt to bowl on such a good batting surface and then to start with Imad the left arm spinner was surprising again. The Indian fans were there in numbers at the Edgbaston like they are all across the world.

Knowing Rohit Sharma, it was an indifferent innings from him. Shikhar Dhawan was even slow, Pakistan bowled well, kept it tight but did not get the crucial wickets. As we speak, India have cashed in on the good start and have started to up the ante, they are 127 for no loss after 23 overs. Shikhar Dhawan has also reached a well-deserved 50.

Shikhar Dhawan has just departed and Virat Kohli has walked in India are in the driver’s seat. India could press on for 350 + which would be a winning total on this pitch.

This is what the legendary leg spinner said after Dhawan departed.

In the video, you can see a hive of blue going up in sync as Rohit Sharma reached that mini milestone.
