Akshay Kumar cheers for Indian women at Lord's, his tweeted pic gets 6k plus likes

Akshay Kumar was present at Lord's to cheer for Mithali Raj-led Indian women's cricket team in their ICC Women's World Cup final match against England

Indian women’s cricket team are playing England in the final of ICC Women’s World Cup at Lord’s in London. The grand finale is a sell out with more than 26,000 people cheering for their respective teams. Among those present was Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who was seen waving the tricolour and cheering for Mithali Raj & Co. An avid cricket fan, the 49-year-old actor has expressed his support for the Indian eves on social media. Earlier in the day, he also posted a video of him on board a train.

Akshay is currently in England, promoting his upcoming film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha that is set against the backdrop of Narendra Modi government’s Swacch Bharat Mission.

Earlier, the Indian women’s team restricted their English counterparts to 228/7 in 50 overs. Jhulan Goswami was the star bowler as she took three crucial wickets at the cost of just 23 runs in her stipulated quota of 10 overs. Poonam Yadav bagged two scalps while spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad claimed Lauren Winfield. Natalie Sciver top-scored with 51 while Sarah Taylor and Katherine Brunt followed suit with vital knocks of 45 and 34 respectively. The Women in Blue are eyeing their maiden title in their second final appearance. They stormed into the finals after trouncing Australia by 36 runs in the semi-final on July 20.
