Dangal Box Office collection: Aamir Khan sports drama on its glorious run to reach Rs 200 cr in 7 days

Dangal has minted over Rs 176 crore in 6 days at the Box Office. It will soon breach Rs 200 crore and then Rs 300 crore will not be that far

Aamir Khan starrer Dangal is all set to breach past Rs 200 crore at the Box Office soon. The sports drama has already minted Rs 176. 98 crore in its 6-day Box Office run. The Wednesday collections of the film recorded a dip with Rs 21. 20 crore. However, the film is expected to reach the coveted bracket of Rs 200 crore in its first week itself.

The 6-day Box Office breakup of Dangal is as follows:

  • Friday – Rs 29. 78 crore
  • Saturday – Rs 34. 82 crore
  • Sunday – Rs 42. 41 crore
  • Monday – Rs 25. 69 crore
  • Tuesday – Rs 23. 09 crore
  • Wednesday – Rs 21. 20 crore

Dangal’s performance at the international Box Office is also commendable. The film is about to cross the Rs 100 landmark overseas with its Tuesday collections standing close to Rs 94. 29 crore. With its 6-day collection, Dangal is already a third highest grosser of 2016 after Sultan and The Jungle Book, which minted Rs 300. 45 crore and Rs 181. 75 crore, respectively, in their lifetime Box Office run.

With no other Hindi film release till 13 January, Dangal has a good week to carry on with its stupendous success. If the film manages to do this well consistently, it might even emerge as the highest grossing Hindi film of 2016, beating Sultan’s overall collection. Only Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees, which is slated to hit the screens on 25 January can pave a hindrance in Dangal’s smooth Box Office run. Till then, the film can trust its fate to break several records and make new ones.

It should be interesting to see whether this Aamir Khan film is able to surpass the lifetime collection of his previous film — PK, which stands as the highest grossing Hindi film ever at Rs 331 crore (approx).

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is the story of real-life wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his struggle to make his daughters the wrestlers of international caliber. The film focuses on a father-daughter relationship and features Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead roles. Sanya, who played the role of Geeta Phogat in the film, even received a hand-written note from megastar Amitabh Bachchan for her good performance in the film.
