Is patchy beard troubling you? Here are 5 ways to fix them

Eating healthy, combing and trimming properly can make your patchy beard trouble vanish in no time.

At a time when beards are in, courtesy: No shave November, we still have a good number of people struggling to grow one. We have always wanted to join the race of celebrities and have flawless beards like that of Amitabh Bachan, Shahid Kapoor, and Farhan Akhtar. But what discourages us from having a beard are those horrible patches. We grow the beard for 3 weeks hoping to have a perfect one but alas, the patches kill all that excitement!

There is no magic potion which will help you grow bread in one night. Genetics also play an important role in the game of growing beard. If you think that you are stuck in the hair game don’t be sad because the older you grow, the better your beard’s growth is.

Give time, it needs to fill in

We are always in a rush. The moment we see patches in our beard we straight away head for the razor. It is a myth that we will have a good beard after not shaving for a month. But the reality is that it takes a long time to grow a perfect one. So next time try to kill the urge of shaving it and give the hair some time to grow (maybe more than a month?). Let the follicles spread their wings and flourish. Shape your jaw line and keep your neck clean. Wait and watch it grow uniformly in few weeks.

The shorter, the better

The patchy area of beard has no remedy in many cases. But lumberjack look is something to ace for if you have a patchy beard. Not shaving completely rather trimming properly is the best way to keep the length of the facial hair in check. The baldness will be less visible as the short length of the hair will not have much comparison to make with the barren crates.

No to Supplements

People suggest a lot of supplements for growing the beard properly and fill the patchiness. It is a big NO. The science of these supplements is not clear. Biotin is required for the growth of facial hair. The best way to gain biotin is to have eggs, oranges, and beef that increases testosterone or DHT levels and make the hormones active in the body by lowering SHBG. Instead of going for the biotin supplements that might not end working, the best is to try the organic way.

Brushing is essential

The hair on the head is as essential as the hair on the face. Don’t use shampoo on your beards as they will make the hair dry and fragile but use a conditioner to make it more luscious. Just you brush your hair to make them fluffier, you can do the same with your beard. Try brushing or combing your facial hair in one direction to fill in the empty patches if you have unruly hair.

Caress in contrast

Patchy beard looks good if the whole package results in a sharper look. It also adds an element of toughness and edginess to yours personality. To embrace it well it should be contrasted finely. The beard should be trimmed evenly from all the sides. People focus on the cheeks more and tend to overlook the sideburns and neck. Use a razor to shave the neck hair and give it a cleaner and sharp look. Patchiness will become less pronounced as the unevenness will be less and will add on to your fidgeted look.
