Prime time news star Arnab Goswami has resigned from Times Now news channel. Reports say the journalist may start his new venture soon.
The New Minute has reported that Arnab resigned from the post of the Editor -in-Chief and the President of Times Now and ET Now. The website reported that he announced his decision in an editorial meeting. Several sources have confirmed the website that he has resigned.
The website reported that he told the editorial team that he would continue in television.
This is a huge news as Arnab Goswami was the face of the channel. His show the News Hour has been the top-rated 9 pm show for a long time now.
Arnab Goswami’s show Frankly Speaking has also been a popular show. Arnab had hosted many prominent personalities in the show including Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi. Recently, he had hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the show.
In both the shows, Arnab adopted different approaches. While he was patient in Frankly Speaking, he was loud in News Hour. Arnab has been widely criticised by journalists like Barkha Dutt after he openly took extreme positions in the intolerance debate. He has been taking extreme positions on issues concerning Pakistan also.
Arnab Goswami had a very famous fight with BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi.
Arnab famously took on left-liberal journalists. He had made several indirect references to a few journalists. They also retorted using direct and indirect attacks. This fight went to a different level during the JNU controversy.
Due to the positions he had taken, he was fairly popular among the nationalists on the social media.
Arnab was recently in news after he was reportedly given “Y category”. According to reports, the move was taken after intelligence agencies perceived a threat to him from terrorists organisations.
Arnab had joined Times Now in 2006. He worked with NDTV before that. Twitter is flooded with reactions after his resignation.
Had #ArnabGoswami resigned earlier, Diwali would have been completely noiseless.
