Watch: BJP Barabanki lawmaker threatens to 'skin police officer alive'

This is the third instance of a lawmaker misbehaving with the government official since BJP stormed to power in Uttar Pradesh.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Barabanki MP Priyanka Singh Rawat kicked up a row after she threatened to ‘skin a senior police officer alive’ over his alleged misbehaviour. Reports claimed that the BJP MP has threatened Additional Superintendent of Police Gyananjay Singh over phone after she did not like his attitude.

During the argument, the officer is reported to have told Rawat- “I am the police, I know what I am doing”.

“I will get all the malai out, khaal bhi khichwa lungi (I will get all the illegal wealth seized, will skin you alive),” Ms Rawat, 31, allegedly told police officer over phone.

When she was asked to clarify about the incident during a press conference, the 31-year-old lawmaker repeated her threat without any sign of remorse. “We have Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the centre and Yogi Adityanath’s government in Uttar Pradesh. Only those who perform will stay in this district. If their conduct doesn’t improve, then we will take strict action and their record will be checked,” the lawmaker said.

“They have reaped enough under the previous government. Khaal utaar denge if they do not work properly,” she told reporters.

This is the third instance of a lawmaker misbehaving with the government officer since BJP stormed to power in Uttar Pradesh. Last week, an FIR was lodged against BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal for leading a procession without permission, then targeting a police officer’s home with a mob and threatening him.

On Wednesday, BJP MLA Kesar Singh allegedly kicked a bank manager as he was offened that the official was not paying atatention to him.
