J&K: 2 army jawans, 4 terrorists killed in gunbattle in Kulgam

At least 2 security personnel and 4 Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in an encounter in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on February 12. Initial reports suggest that the encounter is still underway between security forces and terrorists in Yaripora area of Kulgam district. The militants were hiding in Nagbal Frisal area of Kulgam.

Army sources informed that different unconfirmed figures on casualties of security forces & terrorists are doing rounds. Some of the militants who sustained injuries during the encounter have managed to flee. Security officials have cordoned off the area and efforts are being made to nab the terrorists. Read here

Tamil Nadu: Sasikala to begin ‘new kind of protest’

As the political turmoil in the state of Tail Nadu refuses to die down, Sasikala Natarajan who was recently elected as the Legislative head of AIADMK asserted that she will begin a “new kind of protest” from February 12. The response came soon after she accused Tamil Nadu governor C Vidyasagar Rao for purposely delaying the swearing-in ceremony.

“From tomorrow onwards,we would begin a new kind of protest. Delaying tactics is an attempt to create divisions in the party. Please wait and watch,” Sasikala told the media. Read here

Replica of Kailash Satyarthi’s Nobel Peace Prize recovered

The replica of Nobel Prize that was stolen from Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s residence in Delhi has been found. The police officials confirmed that they have recovered all the stolen valuables including the Nobel Prize replica along with jewellery. Three people have been arrested in connection of the robbery case.

In a shocking incident, a theft has taken place in Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s Delhi home on February 7 and the thieves has taken away a number of things from his house including his Nobel Prize replica that was awarded to him in 2014. Read here
