Swacch Bharat drive: Jodhpur residents attach dustbin to cars to tackle littering

Jodhpur residents themselves taking to clean their surrounding, city's ranking is expected to improve in the next Swacch Bharat survey.

These folks from Jodhpur’s Kamla Nagar locality have come up with an innovative way to keep the area neat and clean. They have attached a bucket at the rear end of their four wheelers which they use as dustbin.

Speaking with ANI, Mohammad Yusuf, a resident of the locality said “PM Modi started a mission to clean this country, and we must support it,” . “It is sad to see the dirty environment. We must not just focus on cleaning the city, but the country too,” he added. Another admirer of PM Narendra Modi, Anil said he uses his Audi to collect the garbage of his house. “I also have a hospital of my own, where I encourage my patients to do what we do.” he told ANI. Gopal, another resident of the area said, “I collect the garbage, put it in a bucket and dump it in the dumping yard. I have been carrying out this activity for a week, and I feel happy to be doing this.”

Jodhpur was ranked 209th in the  Swachh Survekshan 2017. With the residents themselves taking to clean their surrounding city’s ranking is expected to improve in the next survey. The survey result which was made public by Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu last month declared Indore and Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh  as the cleanest cities of India whereas, Gonda of Uttar Pradesh and Bhusawal of Maharashtra were termed as the least clean cities of India.
