Dera Chief and self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh who was convicted of rape by special CBI court in Panchkula is reportedly being provided with special privileges and has allegedly been receiving VIP treatment from Haryana government in the jail.
If reports are to be believed then Ram Rahim Singh has been given an air-conditioned accommodation in the prison located near Rohtak town. Manohar Lal Khattar government has also reportedly arranged special helicopter for Ram Rahim. “From arranging a special helicopter to providing an air-conditioned room and helping in using facilities meant for police officers, the Khattar government is extending all help to the lawfully disgraced Dera chief even after his conviction in such a serious crime as rape. This is appalling,” a police source who was an eyewitness was quoted as saying.

Honeypreet, fondly known as “Papa’s angel’ was also allowed to accompany the Dera chief along with bags and suitcases even after the police officers took him into the custody in Panchkula. A few officers were also allegedly physically assaulted for making an attempt to treat Ram Rahim as a regular prisoner.
“A couple of senior officers, who tried to take the Dera chief to task and treat him like any other criminal after his conviction were physically assaulted by his (sect chief’s) security. “One senior officer was slapped and other one was pushed in the presence of other top officers. The Haryana Police had to detain his security for some time to take him into its custody following the conviction,” the police officer said.
Massive violence erupted in various parts of Haryana and Delhi after the Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh who is now Qaidi no 1997 was convicted in a 15-year-old rape case. Over 30 people have lost their lives and 250 have been left injured in the violence. The quantum of sentence for Ram Rahim Singh who was stripped off ‘Z’ category security will be pronounced on August 28.
