Sitting MP E Ahamed died on Wednesday after he suffered cardiac arrest during Parliament on Tuesday. It is likely that the Budget will be presented in the House but discussion on the same may take place on Thursday. However, the final decision will be taken after meeting the speaker at 10 AM.

The government will also speak to all the political parties before taking the final decision. The government also has the option to adjourn session after the budget speech.

There was high drama late in the night at government-run RML hospital with top Congress leaders visiting the hospital to enquire about former Union Minister E Ahamed’s health and alleging that his family was not being allowed to meet him. His mortal remains have been brought from the hospital. Ahamed’s body will be kept for homage for the public at the Haj house for an hour, after reaching the Calicut airport.

Political leaders including Congress President and Congress Vice President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had also visited E Ahmed to check up on his health in the hospital.

His son Nazeer Ahamed alleged that the hospital administration did not allow his family members to meet him during such a critical time and were not even informed about the medical developments and the treatment that was provided to him in the hospital.

The senior minister was admitted in a critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest during the President’s address in both Houses on January 31. Ahamed had served as Minister of State for External Affairs in the previous UPA government.
