SFI protests against 'Goondaism' of ABVP, demands equal rights for all irrespective of ideologies

The Student Federation of India Friday held a protest march from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar against alleged goondaism by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in Delhi university.

The protesters who have gathered from across the country demanded every student ,irrespective of  their ideologies, has a right to enter Delhi University.

The protest comes in the backdrop of ABVP’s refusal to allow JNU students Umar Khalid, who is facing sedition charge, and Shehla Rashid to address a seminar at Ramjas College. Subsequently,  members of the AISA and the ABVP clashed in the college campus leading to several injuries.

The students also demanded a more pro-student approach in new education policy which is being drafted by a committe headed by TSR Subramanian

Meanwhile, Police has made special security arrangememnts to avoid any instances of violence. They will also march along with protesters to Jantar Mantar.

A Kargil martyr’s daughter also faced online threat after she shared a facebook post saying,” I am not Afraid of ABVP.”  The issue snowballed into a major controversy after a few celebs trolled her over a one year old video that advocated peace with Pakistan.
