Ramjas violence: BJP MP compares Kargil martyr's daughter Gurmehar Kaur with Dawood Ibrahim

The post by MP Simla against Gurmehar Kaur also had a caption "At least Dawood did not use the crutches of his father's name to justify his anti-national stand".

Amid of the on-going massive stir made by Delhi University (DU) student Gurmehar Kaur, a BJP MP Pratap Simha from Karnataka has made a controversial remark against her. The BJP MP has compared Gurmehar with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

On February 26, the BJP MP from Mysuru Pratap Simha posted an image on microblogging site Twitter with the pictures of Gurmehar Kaur on one side and Dawood Ibrahim on the other. In the post, Gurmehar is addressed as a soldier’s daughter and is compared with Dawood, who is addressed as the son of a policeman.

The post by MP Simla also has a caption which reads “At least Dawood did not use the crutches of his father’s name to justify his anti-national stand”.

A Facebook post by the daughter of a Kargil martyr, Gurmehar created a massive row as she came out to speak against ABVP in the wake of the violence at Ramjas College of Delhi University.

Gurmehar has alleged that she was threatened with rape after her social media campaign against the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) went viral.

Union Minister of Sates Kiren Rijiju took to social media and tweeted about this incident. He said “Who’s polluting this young girl’s mind? A strong Arm Force prevents a war. India never attacked anyone but a weak India was always invaded.”

Earlier, clashes erupted between activists of the All India Students Association (AISA) and the RSS’ student wing ABVP outside Ramjas College here last week, a day after the ABVP forced suspension of an event to be addressed by JNU student Umar Khalid.
