In a recent development, the Delhi Police have suspended its three officials for manhandling media personnel and their violent behaviour in Delhi University while a feud erupted between the All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (AVBP) on February 22.

The Delhi Special Police Commissioner SBK Singh has stated in this case that the entire matter has been handed over to the Crime Branch who will further take charge following the complaint lodged at the Maurice Nagar police station in North Delhi. He said,”The case details have been transferred to the Crime Branch who will further carry out the investigation. The videos surface so far will also be examined.”

A clash broke out between All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists on February 22 in New Delhi over the cancellation of JNU student Umar Khalid’s event at Delhi University’s Ramjas College. Umar Khalid was supposed to speak at the seminar organised by Literary Society of Ramjas College on ‘The War in Adivasi Areas’ on February 21. However, no injuries have been reported so far.
