Priyanka Vadra to kickstart UP Assembly poll campaign from Allahabad on Nov 21

Priyanka Vadra so far has only campaigned in Rae Bareli and Amethi, represented by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi respectively.

Priyanka Vadra will campaign for the Congress in upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. She will visit Allahabad on November 21 to attend an event. The event will also be attended by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Clamours have grown louder urging Priyanka to actively participate in the party’s poll campaign for the upcoming Assembly polls. The Grand Old Party has fared poorly since being reduced to an abysmal 44 in the 2014 Lok Sabha. The Congress then lost several Assembly elections since then.

The upcoming UP Assembly elections in UP will be crucial for the party as it will look forward to improving upon its 2012 tally of 29, India Today reported. The Congress has been on an offensive mode against the Narendra Modi government, especially after its decision to demonetise the Rs 1,000 and 500 notes and introduce new Rs 2,000 notes. The first three days of Parliament winter session has been disrupted by the opposition asking the government to roll back its decision.

On Friday, Youth Congress workers staged a demonstration in the national capital against the demonetisation issue.
