Soon after the Tamil Nadu Governor, C.Vidyasagar Rao invited Sasikala Natarajan’s loyalist E Palanisamy to form the government in the state, O Panneerselvam asserted that he will let the party go into the hands of the family members of Sasikala.
Earlier today, it was announced that Palanisamy will the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and has been given 15 days to prove his majority.
Having been convicted in the disproportionate assets case and amid her ongoing power tussle with O Pannerselvam, Sasikala handed over the baton of the leader of AIADMK legislature party to Edappadi K Palaniswami. With Sasikala now behind bars, for the next three and a half year, Edappadi K Palaniswami has been called by the Governor and will take oath as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

Palanisami was elected as the leader of the legislature party on February 14. AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala Natarajan who was convicted by the Supreme Court in the disproportionate assets case surrendered before the Bangalore court on February 15. Sasikala who is now prisoner no 9435, had been convicted her in the disproportionate asset case against her by the Supreme Court.
After the verdict, Sasikala held an emergency meeting at the Golden Bay resort where she had lodged all the MLAs to keep the flock together. AIADMK soon announced that Sasikala has been replaced by Edappadi K Palanisamy as legislative party leader of the party. He had urged the governor to allow him to form a government in the state.
