'Dost dost na raha', How Twitter turned lyrical after Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar CM

Twitterati are busy floating memes and singing songs as the political drama unfolds in Bihar

Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar Chief Minister on Wednesday evening, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gave him their support and he is now back as the Bihar CM after he took oath again for the sixth time on Thursday. It all happened within just 14 hours. Nitish met Janata Dal United legislators on Wednesday and soon after his meeting, he decided to pull out of the Mahagatbandhan that was formed with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress just before the Bihar elections.

Breaking away from the 17-year-old alliance with the BJP, Nitish had then said that the main aim of the Mahagatbandhan is to build a ‘Sangh Mukt Bharat’. However, within three years of breaking away from the BJP, Nitish is back with the party, ready to build his government with the support of its former allies.

Nitish had been struggling to maintain a corruption free image of his government amid the frequent charges of corruption that have been levelled against Lalu and his family. While resigning he said that it was not possible in the present circumstances to run a government. However, hitting back at Nitish, Lalu said that the charges of corruption were levied on them even when they were forming the mahagatbandhan so why did Nitish not object then?

Meanwhile, apart from what politics is being played on the ground, there is a different league of politics that can be seen between these leaders on Twitter.

Modi started by congratulating Nitish for resigning, Nitish replied showing his gratitude. Lalu and his son Tejaswi levelled charges on Nitish while BJP veteran Sushil Kumar Modi extended his support. All this while others mocked the politics in Bihar.

But politics aside, the sudden upheaval in Bihar has led to many jokes on Twitter. And politicians too are not far behind while talking about the new alliance between Nitish Kumar and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Leading the charge in mocking the new gatbandhan, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister tweeted an old song – ‘Na na karte pyar tumhi se kar baithe’

He was not the only one who remembered a song at the situation. Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai also couldn’t stop himself from sharing the song: ‘Dost dost na raha

Other’s too got extremely creative on the social networking site
