Over 3 lakh class 12 students in Bihar apply for rechecking of their answer sheets

The poor results in Bihar have led to the large scale protest with students demanding rechecking of their answer sheets and action against top officials

Two weeks after Bihar Board class 12 board results were announced, nearly 3.25 lakh students have applied for rechecking of their answer sheets. This year, nearly 7.94 lakh of the 12.6 lakh student (64%) failed to clear the intermediate exams held this year. The poor results have led to the large scale protest with studentsdemanding rechecking of their answer sheets and action taken against top officials. There were several students who even claimed to qualified in various competitive exams including the JEE (Mains), but failed to clear the boards.

Sensing student’s anger, Bihar Chief Minsiter Nitish Kumar asked asked all dissatisfied students to apply for rechecking of copies, if they felt they had not attained marks as per the answers they had written. He said the results were a reflection of the strictness followed in conduct of examination and evaluation. He also promised the BSEB will hold compartmental exams soon.

Speaking to DNA, senior BSEB officials said that the Board only provides for scrutiny of answer sheets not re-evaluation, in which it is checked whether all questions answered by the students have been marked and if the marks have been added properly.

Now nearly, 7.25 lakh copies have come for scrutiny as one student has applied ofr rechecking of multiple copies. Nearly 58000 copies have already been scrutinised by the board by Wednesday, DNA reported. Maximum applications have been received from students of science stream.  Meanwhile, BSEB has made elaborate arrangements for rechecking of the answer sheets and set a deadline of June 25 to evaluate the copies.

Last year, the toppers scam was came into light which lead to strict evaluation by Bihar education board. Also, the result of Class 12 topper in the Arts stream Ganesh Kumar was cancelled for committing forgery among other charges.
