Karnataka Police nabs Janardhan Reddy's aide whose driver committed suicide

The driver in his suicide note alleged KAS official helped Janardhan Reddy convert black money into white.

The Karnataka Police on Sunday arrested a Karnataka Administrative Service officer, said to be close to mining baron Janardhan Reddy. The arrested officer’s driver had committed suicide few days ago.

In his suicide note, the driver named KC Ramesh said KAS officer L Bhima Naik had allegedly helped Reddy convert black money worth Rs 100 crore into white.

In his suicide note, Ramesh also alleged that the officer was paid 10 per cent as the commission by Reddy. It should be mentioned that Reddy came into limelight after holding a lavish wedding ceremony of his daughter recently.

The wedding ceremony evoked sharp criticism from the opposition, which questioned the source of income even as the country battles cash crunch due to the Modi government’s demonetisation move. Reddy, who belongs to the BJP, served as a minister in the previous government led by BS Yeddyurappa. He was removed in 2011 after corruption charges.
