Haryana shamed again: Woman brutally gangraped, mutilated for refusing marriage proposal

The grieving parents have alleged their neighbour as the perpetrator of the attack

In yet another incident raising questions over security of woman in the country, a woman was brutally gangraped and killed in Haryana’s Rohtak district. The gruesome incident, according to ANI, took place on May 9 and it came to light when the body of the woman was found at an empty plot in IMT area of Rohtak. Meanwhile, Haryana Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The ANI report also said  that the victim had allegedly refused a marriage proposal, following which the accused reached her home a week later with his friends. A heated argument broke out which resulted in the woman slapping him. In revenge, the accused along with his friends allegedly raped and murdered her.

The Times Now report also quoted a forensic expert who carried out the post-mortem of the woman as saying that the victim was gangraped and mutilated with sharp-edged weapons. He also informed that the accused even tried to run over her so that she couldn’t be identified. The forensic experts also claimed that victim’s body was mutilated and tortured after gangrape. “She was killed after being raped involving at least seven people. Her skull was smashed in a way which indicates that she was run over by a vehicle in order to hide her identity,” the team told the News Channel.

The ghastly attack took place only a few days  after the Supreme Court upheld the death sentences of four convicts in the December 16 Nirbhaya gangrape case.

The victim’s parents, who lived in Sonepat, had filed a missing report with police.  They were called to Rohtak for body identification. The grieving parents have demanded death penalty for those responsible for this.
