Officers were given training by Facebook and Instagram employees to effectively use the social media for the purpose of official communication

In order to reach out to youngsters, now the centre is helping its communication section to put up good quality pictures on social media sites by training them. The officials are now getting training so that Instagram, a mobile photo-sharing app, can be used effectively. In the past, they have been given training about Facebook and Twitter.

According to a report published in Economic Times, the first workshop on it took place on Thursday, in which Information and Broadcasting minister M Venkaiah Naidu and minister of state Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore participated.

The officials were given training by the Facebook and Instagram employees to effectively use the social media for the purpose of official communication.

Naidu at the workshop titled ‘Instagram for Better Government Communication’ said, Instagram is an appropriate platform for government to engage with people, including younger generation.

To be able to click good pictures, Naidu said that officials in the I&B ministry are being given the training. He also advised ministers to learn new and effective methods of communication. “The colours of India celebrated through its festivals, cultural practices and region-specific dresses could best be experienced through visuals,” said Senior BJP leaders.

Naidu said app would be like a “rainbow to visualise the story of emerging new India and implement the prime minister’s vision of minimum government, maximum governance.”

Emphasising on carefully using social media said, “Sensationalism will not take you anywhere. One has to be closer to truth, especially in a medium like this. Transformation comes with information and information with confirmation is ammunition”.
