Amid Kulbhushan Jadhav row, BSF hands over Pakistani teen who accidentally crossed border

While Pakistan has awarded death sentence to Kulbhushan Jadhav, BSF has handed over Pakistani teen after he accidentally crossed border

Amid rising tension between two neighboring countries over the death sentence of alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, the Border Security Force (BSF) sent back a Pakistani teen who accidentally crossed border in the Abohar area in Punjab.

The 15-year-old Pakistani national has been identified as Razak. According to reports, the boy who hails from Kasur district in Pakistan, was arrested by the Indian BSF during an operation in Abohar. The officials added that the boy had accidentally crossed the border and had reached the security fence when the security officials apprehended him.

“The Pakistan Rangers were contacted today and the apprehended Pakistani national was handed over to them being an inadvertent border crosser on humanitarian grounds,”spokesperson told IANS. This is not the first time that the BSF has handed over Pakistani nationals to the rangers. This is apparently the seventh time that the BSF has handed over a Pakistani nationals who have accidentally crossed borders.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has not yet responded to India’s request to provide consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav. Pakistan media had earlier reported that the country had denied the consular access for the 16th time. A Pakistani court had awarded death sentence to Kulbhushan Jadhav after he was charged with “espionage activities” against Pakistan. Top politicians had come out to condemn the sentence with External affair minister Sushma Swaraj asserting that if  Pakistan goes ahead with the death sentence the bilateral ties of both the countries shall be affected.

India has claimed that Kulbhusna was a former Indian naval officer and that he was kidnapped from Tehran, Iran.
